A profile of the Delhi Giants

The task of representing the national capital at the ICL makes the Giants one of the most popular sides in the league with a large fan following. Representing Delhi brings with it a melting pot syndrome of various diversities - that is what the Giants do from a cricketing perspective.

With an exemplary team spirit, they have consistently seen players from different regions, countries and backgrounds gelling as a unit, shaping up one of the fiercest competitive cricket teams in the world.

The hallmark of the Giants is the infectious spirit displayed by them every time they step on the field. Led by the stylish Marvan Atapattu and coached by World Cup winner Madan Lal, they are one of the best sides on the ICL platform.

Batting Prowess of the Giants: Their opening slot is occupied by the deadly left-right hand combination of Avishka Gunawardene & Mohnish Mishra. The Giants bat deep with the likes of Dale Benkenstein batting lower down the order at no. seven and eight respectively. They posses one of the best T20 middle-orders in the world with willowers like captain Marvan Atapattu, Abbas Ali, Abhinav Bali and Nic Pothas.

Bowling arsenal of the Giants: Lethal and disciplined bowling backed by enthusiastic fielding is one of the distinguishing qualities of the Giants. The fact that they hold the record of defending the lowest total in the ICL speaks volumes about the potency of their attack. The pace department is spearheaded by one of the best fast bowlers in the world, Shane Bond. He is ably supported by the disciplined line & length bowling of Taduri Sudhindra & Dale Benkenstein. The Giants have arguably the best spinner in Ali Murtaza; he holds the rare feat of having an economy rate of below six runs per over.

The performance of their domestic players at the ICL50s is another reassuring fact for the Giants; they made a clean sweep at the league stage only to be knocked out in the final by the Chennai Superstars. With the current talent pool at its disposal they are sure to start as one of the favorites in the future editions of the ICL.
